Description Kfir Lavi 2011-01-25 13:34:15 UTC
hi,
I have some problems installing grub-9999 using --root directive 'emerge -av --root=/tmp/target grub'. It will exit with error
'eselect python show --python2' printed unrecognized value '' .
This happens when bzr tries to fetch grub.
Installing grub without the --root will work ok. It seems that the eselect tries to get the python version in --root... instead from the mother filesystem.

Now, Python is in the DEPEND, so it should be provided by the mother filesystem and is not needed in runtime.

Regards,
Kfir

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.echo "sys-boot/grub-9999 **">>/etc/portage/package.keywords
2.emerge -av --root=/tmp/target grub
3.

Comment 1 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2011-01-25 20:50:20 UTC
looks like a bzr.eclass problem, or perhaps a python one. certainly nothing to do with grub.
Comment 2 Christian Faulhammer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-01-27 12:41:39 UTC
Thank you for your report, as I have no full "rooted" environment I need some more information from you to debug this issue.

What is the output of
 eselect python show --python2
?

Please provide the output of 'emerge --info'.

Comment 4 Ulrich Müller gentoo-dev 2012-09-04 06:04:19 UTC
This has nothing to do with bzr.eclass. The eselect python call is in /usr/bin/bzr itself.
Comment 5 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2017-11-07 18:52:22 UTC
please retest with a fully updated system and bzr-2.7.1_pre
