I've been using the server version of Battlefield 2 for a while now on Gentoo Linux command-line and it runs great. Could it be added to the Portage tree to make it easier for others to install? Personally I only had one prerequisite and that was that I have "sys-libs/libstdc++-v3" installed because it requires "/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5" since I have GCC 4.4.4 only which uses the newer version "/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6". The setup requires you to accept two licence agreements (from memory one is EA and the other is PunkBuster) and then asks for the root directory to where it should install the Battlefield 2 folder and files under. The setup file itself does not download any additional licensed material from the Internet so there should be no fetch restrictions. It can be downloaded here initially and then placed on the distfiles mirrors: http://www.bf-games.net/download/954/bf2_dedicated_server_1_50_linux_build_1_5_3153_802_0.html The server runs its own console window so if console access is required, it needs to be run with screen - this could be an additional USE flag. Runscript init scripts need to point to a wrapper file to cd to the correct directory otherwise multiple errors will occur reporting files not being found etc. Please add to Portage if possible. Thanks. Reproducible: Always
