xfree-4.3.0-r3 on ia64 doesn't build right now because 5105_ia64_4.2.99.901-ati-radeon-pagesize.patch doesn't apply to the current sources. I've updated the patch and will attach it to this bug. This calls for a new patchset to be released from g.o/~spyderous (and soon please, since this is quite a halter for ia64)
Created attachment 20668 [details, diff] 5105_ia64_4.3.0-ati-radeon-pagesize.patch This patch should replace 5105_ia64_4.2.99.901-ati-radeon-pagesize.patch in the patchset tarball for 4.3.0. I haven't investigated later X servers yet since we're concentrating on getting a stable release for ia64.
Hold the boat! That patch isn't quite right. I'll update it in a minute.
Created attachment 20669 [details, diff] fixed 5105_ia64_4.3.0-ati-radeon-pagesize.patch Okay, here is the fixed patch.
Please ignore this bug. I got majorly confused between xfree-4.3.99 and xfree-4.3.0. I'll post something tomorrow and get it all straightened out. /me hates waiting for long builds
OK, so the way it sounds, 4.3.0-r3 is fine and 4.3.99 is broken?
Created attachment 20926 [details, diff] 0263_ia64_4.3.0-elfloader-dup-case.patch Spyderous, here is what we need for 4.3.0 on ia64. I'll follow up with a patch for 4.3.99
I'll do a patch for 4.3.99 in another bug since this one is for 4.3.0. I'm not going to work on 4.3.99 at the moment...
Created attachment 20928 [details, diff] 0263_ia64_4.3.0-elfloader-dup-case.patch Update with commentary
Spyderous, will we see this in xfree soon? ;-)
As soon as I get Internet access on any of my boxes with CVS checkouts.
Any word on this, Spyderous? I'm pushing because right now it's impossible to do an ia64 install without manual patching.
My box is rebuilding right now. As of a couple of hours ago, it had ~130 packages to go. With any luck, I'll be able to get this patch in tomorrow at the latest.
Moving to critical so I notice it on the buglist. This patch should be in 4.3.0-r4, which we're working on right now.
*** Bug 34657 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Aron, if you pull both patches (0260 and 0263), do things work? You seem to be deleting the case that's present in 4.3.99.
Aron still waiting to hear from you on the last comment, but I added the patch for now to 4.3.0-r3.
Closing til we get some more info.
Spyderous, I've finally been able to look and resolve the question of 0260 vs. 0263. Here is what they do: 1. 0260 adds the R_IA64_PCREL64LSB case from 4.3.99, which results in a duplicate case (and a broken build) 2. 0263 removes the duplicate case, preserving the new case from 0260 and dropping the older case from 4.3.0 So there is no conflict here, though it would make more sense to use a single patch, it doesn't really matter... Thanks for putting in the patch! Now to test the 4.3.99 stream (will open a new bug if necessary)
