In order to properly get fullscreen support with mplayer, f has be pressed three times to cycle through all the options before actually giving a fullscreen. Using MPlayer SVN-r30554-4.4.4, but it probably will affect earlier versions too. I'm not sure that this is quite the same as bug #327181. The same code affects both and is probably wrong in some ways, but there are key differences: in this bug fullscreening mplayer with its own key combination is triggering a hint action, whereas in the other bug a state is affecting an application as a result of a window manager key combination. Also, this would appear to be an actual "bug", the logic of the code is incorrect. The obvious-in-chromium bug is more of an aesthetic bug, the code was written correctly but interacts in an unexpected way with existing usage of the wm hint. In any case, I think both of these issues should be upstreamed asap.

If by report you mean email ciarin ascomb then yeah, I emailed him around the time of filing this bug. His reply was along the lines of I'll have to think about it. Haven't bugged him about it since.
I see no release since 2011... upstream never fixed this... do we really need one more WM? I mean... having fullscreen not working properly looks to me a major enough problem to migrate to one of the multiple lightweight WM alternatives that are available in the tree
I personally routinely use this for MythTV dedicated frontend boxes and I believe that the frontend init script with that ebuild is configured to use this by default for mythwelcome. I would be sad to see this thing disappear from portage :(.
Currently using 1.0.1 and the only thing there that annoys me is the lack of xinerama support during maximize (ie, maximize goes over all screens, not just main one). I would also be very sad to see this being purged from the tree.
