Description Victor Toni 2003-10-18 15:42:28 UTC
The PS2 keyboard is frozen if gpm is started without a mouse attached.
(gpm used to run always on my other linux distro even if there was no mouse
attached and it didn't froze my keyboard).
Even stranger is that the keys pressed while gpm was running appear after
stopping gpm.

/etc/conf.d/gpm:
MOUSE=imps2
MOUSEDEV=/dev/psaux

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.start gpm or pull mouse
2.pull mouse or start gpm
3.keyboard is frozen, after stopping gpm the pressed keys appear!!!

Actual Results:
after 1. && 2. the keyboard is frozen

Expected Results:
missing mouse shouldn't interfere with keyboard

Could you please give us a list of your hardware? I would like to know the brands (Mouse model number and manufacturer) if possible of components and feel free to pass on any other pertinent informantion.

I just ran into this as well. My hardware:

No mouse
Multiple PS/2 Keyboards (failed every time)
Chainteck CT 7AJA2 or AJA2E (can't tell easily from the motherboard itself, model number is from the motherboard manual) - this is a VIA Apollo chipset.
I have a K7 Duron 800Mhz as the processor.

Let me know what other info you may need.

what about kernel info ?
if you unplug the keyboard and then plug it back in, does it work again ?
