Hi! Please find attached xe-guest-utilities-5.5.0.ebuild and a patch so that it will work with Gentoo. xe-guest-utilities are Citrix XenServer 5.5.0 Tools to make a Gentoo guest host optimized on a Citrix XenServer host server. Original source can be found on http://updates.xensource.com/XenServer/5.5.0/debian/. And I made a patch to transform this Debian package source to a Gentoo compliant package. I also made a version for Citrix XenServer 5.5.0 Update 1. I'll post it as a reply to this post. I suggest app-emulation/xe-guest-utilities. -- Benoit Merouze R&D Manager - IPercom

And here is xe-guest-utilities-5.5.0_p1.ebuild for XenServer 5.5.0 Update 1, and the patch used to update XenServer Tools.

Thank you for report. Now this package will wait for dedicated maintainer in Gentoo, but for the time being I suggest you to put and maintain this package in Sunrise overlay: http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/sunrise/ this way developers will help you to improve ebuild, and other users will gain easy access to this work.
XenServer has now reached version 5.6 SP 2. I have 2 boxes running it, and can donate some time testing. How can I help?
Voted up. IMHO, this is actually kindof important in order to increase viability of Gentoo on many Xen-based cloud platforms. There are workaround in place (some cloud server providers just have these tools installs without a package manager, while others, such as Rackspace Cloud Servers, actually have rpm installed (blech) to handle installation of xe-guest-utilities). The majority of new deployments are now cloud-based. I think anything Gentoo can do to be a good fit for that is a good move.
