I've compiled a system using glibc-2.3.2-r5 and I had some problems with kde and mozilla thunderbird not starting. I wanted to see if it's glibc's fault, and downgraded to glibc-2.3.2-r1, but now (most of) the system doesn't work, because it wants the symbol GLIBC_2.3.3. I did strings /lib/libc.so.6 |grep GLIBC on r5 and indeed, it exists, but r1 doesn't have it. Does that mean that r5 is really a 2.3.3-pre ? Is there any way I can recover my system or I must reinstall ?
ive had no problems with glibc-2.3.2-r6 ...
As I said, I've had problems with some apps, but I wanted to check if it's glibc's fault, so I've downgraded and hell broke loose, because all apps seem to want the symbol GLIBC_2.3.3 in /lib/libc.so.6, which r5 provides, but r1 doesn't...
There is usually a reason why something is hard masked ... CVS version is still 2.3.2 and like I said - version is not updated and up until now I have maintained it for people that want to test latest glibc CVS in what looks to be stable snapshots for me.
uff... all I said is that something built with glibc-2.3.2-r5 and possibly higher won't work with versions lower than -r5... Maybe there should be a warning or something...
It is masked for even ~ ?
Ok... forget it.
