Description Francesco Lamonica 2009-12-07 18:48:21 UTC
Whenever i reboot my computer i get the kernel log fille up by the following messages, it happens that fast that it (at various degrees) hinders the normal input typing, i.e: i start typing "echo whatever" then it stops at the w and after a sec i get "echo wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww"
i've read that is a synchronization problem from the radio base of my logitech trackball. (The keyboard is normal PS2). Simply unplugging and replugging the usb connector usually solves the problem. This started happening with 2.6.29 (r5 IIRC) (on an nforce based motherboard) and is still present (much more noticeable) on 2.6.31-r6 on an amd785 motherboard.

I don't know if it's an upstream bug.

here's what i get in the kern.log

attach output of lsusb -v, and let us know if gentoo-sources-2.6.32-r1 shows the same problem

Comment 3 Mike Pagano gentoo-dev 2010-02-04 17:57:56 UTC
Is this still an issue with gentoo-sources-2.6.32-r3?

Those error messages indicate that the module has stopped responding.

If you're willing, it might be useful to grab some traces using usbmon and then send this upstream:

Documentation is here:
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/usb/usbmon.txt
