Description Alex Orange 2009-11-20 04:44:43 UTC
In my latest update ut2004-ded decided to install ut2004-data for some reason (I assume something changed, just not sure what/why). ut2004-data requires CDs to install.

(a) it's a dedicated server, it shouldn't require CDs
(b) I don't have the ut2004 media

Bottom line: How do I install without the media.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge ut2004-ded
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Requires CDs.

Expected Results:
Download the files from wherever they came from before.

I'm not sure what severity to file this as. It's a show stopper for anyone without ut2004 media running a ut2004 dedicated server, but I'm not sure how many people that is.

reopen with the output of emerge --info and the output from emerge -evp ut2004-ded
Comment 2 Tristan Heaven (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-20 12:09:53 UTC
You probably don't have USE=dedicated
Comment 3 Alex Orange 2009-11-20 22:49:44 UTC
To respond to Tristan, if I set dedicated I get a block between ut2004[dedicated] and ut2004-ded. This makes sense since the dedicated flag appears to be to include the dedicated server when installing the ut2004 package.

For the emerge -evp ut2004-ded output see the attachment. This includes many packages because I was in the middle of trying to upgrade when I got stuck.

Comment 4 Tristan Heaven (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-20 23:15:23 UTC
You need USE="dedicated -opengl" for ut2004-bonuspack-* and other ut2004-* mod packages
Comment 5 Alex Orange 2009-11-20 23:33:15 UTC
Created attachment 210754 [details]
Output of emerge -evp ut2004-ded

And the file I forgot to upload.
Comment 6 Alex Orange 2009-11-21 00:05:47 UTC
That does work. I would suggest adding [dedicated -opengl] (or whatever the appropriate syntax is) to the dependencies in the ut2004-ded ebuild to reduce confusion.
Comment 7 James Le Cuirot gentoo-dev 2019-10-27 23:52:19 UTC
The ut2004 and ut2004-ded packages now block each other entirely and the dedicated USE flag is no more.
