nautilus-2.26.4 Always when I add directories to ~/Desktop by right-clicking the desktop, create folder, it doesn't show up right away. Sometimes when I drag a file to the desktop, it doesn't show up right away. To make these items show on the desktop, I have to open a nautilus window to ~/Desktop (where the items are already shown). Sometimes, I have to click refresh in this window. I didn't have this problem with nautilus-2.24 or 2.22. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: With no file manager windows open to ~/Desktop, using nautilus-2.26 to manage the desktop: 1. Right-click, click Create Folder. -or- 1. Drag a file or folder from a nautilus window to the desktop - Here, I see nothing. 2. Open a nautilus window to ~/Desktop - Here, the file or folder appears for me. Expected Results: I would think the file or folder should appear immediately when I put it on the desktop, as it does when a nautilus window is open to ~/Desktop. #gentoo suggested I had no inotify support in my kernel. /usr/src/linux/.config has CONFIG_INOTIFY=y and CONFIG_INOTIFY_USER=y. This is the config file I built my currently running kernel with.
