Would it be possible to have the ECC patch for Apache added, and enabled by a USE flag (https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=40132). It seems like its been in there forever, and it would be nice to use ECC cipher suites on secured connections without having to build my own Apache.

the ecc patches have been commited upstream, please wait until it is released officially. the apache team is currently understaffed and there is no time to maintain extra patches right now.
