I'm still actively maintaining the two packages I'm directly listed as the maintainer of (although "actively maintaining" doesn't mean much for either of them, one hasn't released since 2014, and the other only exists to provide an older ABI that a few old binary packages still need while passing everything else to the newer version of the library).

Jonathan, I'm sorry to say this but I don't think this is fair to others. This level of activity doesn't really justify continuing to have commit access. We really do appreciate the work you've done in the past and would love to see you return as active developer in the future. However, for the two packages you're maintaining I'd like to suggest you proxy-maint -- we'd be happy to make you the proxied maintainer of them, and proxy the commits for you.
