Description Thomas Ilnseher 2009-06-29 12:28:04 UTC
Sorry, I'm eriting this from my memory, as this was a complete fresh install.

Issue: A new computer, fres "unstabilized" (=> ~amd64) gentoo stage 3.
Did already emerge xorg-x11 and a few system packages.

"emerge gnome" failed in gnome-base/libbonobo. (some .h files were created incorrectly)

I eventually tracked the issue down to orbit, and downgraded to orbit-2.14.16

Then, "emerge gnome" worked.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. get fresh unstable gentoo w/ gcc-4.3.3
2. emerge gnome
3.

Actual Results:
failed after libbonobo

Expected Results:
gnome emerged

note ~ # emerge --info

Can you upgrade orbit again, and attach the full build.log like portage ask you to do it ?
Because without any verbose messages about the compilation error, it may be difficult (or impossible if we're unable to reproduice it) to fix it.

thanks
Comment 2 Thomas Ilnseher 2009-06-29 21:40:33 UTC
Ok, It's gettin wierd. I did as you told me, and now libbonobo succeeded to intstall.

But anyway, I've pointed out that there is stuff from the first try still in /var/tmp/portage
The first thing I tried was to emerga again, and the second thing was to try to downgrade libbonobo to 2.24.0, which also failed.

Then I dived into debugging, and noticed there was that idl compiler involved, so I tried to downgrade orbit, and reemrge libbonobo, which succeeded (with 2.24.1), so I still have the log from 2.24.0 here.

I will attach that one.

I will attach
