Bug 262656 – www-client/{mozilla-firefox,seamonkey} displays combining utf8 characters wrong (see url, combining characters)

Webpages using utf8 combining characters are displayed wrong in firefox 3.0.6.
The problem seems to be old, I found a bug report in ubuntu for firefox 1.5
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/51554
Although the problem seems to have been fixed in ubuntu, gentoo still has the issue.
In the url above, the combining characters display to the right of the correct character, and over a dotted O. 
www.scopus.com is also affected.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ucs/examples/UTF-8-demo.txt
2.Scroll down to Combining characters:
3.Notice ring, dot, umlaut and vector to the right of the correct character.

Actual Results:  
STARGΛ̊TE SG-1, a = v̇ = r̈, a⃑ ⊥ b⃑


Expected Results:  
STARGÅTE SG-1, a = {combined ˙ v} = {combined ",r}, {combined ->, a} ⊥ 
{combined ->, b}


I changed the font to see if it was an issue, but no changes were found.

I updated firefox to the latest version (3.0.7). No changes with respect to 3.0.6.

www-client/seamonkey seems to be affected as well. Although I can see the combined a and combined b correctly with both browsers.

If you can still produce this, feel free to reopen and update.
