I'm attempting to install the experimental version on a dual processor Ultra60. Booting either the gentoo or gentoo-smp kernel results in the following message: Mounted devfs on /dev tar: /ram/cdrom/etc.tar: no such file or directory tar: /ram/cdrom/var.tar: no such file or directory chroot: cannot exec /sbin/init Perhaps SCSI CDRom support was not added to the boot kernel?
I tried it as well, got similar error.
I tried it as well, got similar error. þtar: /ram/cdrKernel panic: Attempted to kill init! Press L1-A to return to the boot prom om/etc.tar: No such file or directory tar: /ram/cdrom/var.tar: No such file or directory chroot: cannot execute /sbin/init: No such file or directory Ultra 5, Sun SCSI card.
This is due to the fact that I modularized some but not all of the SCSI drivers in the kernel. I'll fix this in a new version of the LiveCD
Please try the latest experimental LiveCD on the mirrors under experimental/sparc/livecd/sparc64/gentoo-sparc64-1.4_rc4-11Aug2003.iso.bz2. This should fix your problem. Thanks.
Weeve, New kernel boots fine on my Ultra60, running the bootstrap right now. Thanks for the effort to get it fixed! SMF
Another happy customer :)
