Description rookcifer 2009-01-30 14:50:25 UTC
If I go to YouTube, the videos play fine if they remain minimized. However, as soon as I click on the maximize button, firefox will crash and simply "disappear."

Firefox package: www-client/mozilla-firefox-bin-3.0.5
Flash package: net-www/netscape-flash-10.0.15.3

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to youtube with this browser/flash combo
2. Watch a video
3. Click on Youtube's maximize button on the bottom right of the video.

Actual Results:
Firefox crashes.

Expected Results:
Video is supposed to maximize.

I am running stable amd64. I am not able to get a stack trace or anything of that sort. This problem even happens after a fresh Gentoo install.

If I recall correctly, this did not happen on the previous stable versions of flash in portage.

Here is my emerge --info:

Please try with newly released net-www/netscape-flash-10.0.22.87 (Presently ~amd64)

This now comes with native 64-bit plugins, so perhaps between that and the 64-bit java plugin from dev-java/sun-jre-bin-1.6.0.12, you can break away from firefox-bin entirely ;)

I haven't heard any response yet, so I'm assuming this is either fixed with the latest version, or you have reported the bug upstream to Adobe... Sadly since this is closed-source software I'm severely limited in what I can do to help you out.

Same problem still exists (for me at least, more distro's / users suffer from the same problem):

www-client/firefox-bin-3.5.2
www-plugins/adobe-flash-10.0.32.18
x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-173.14.18
sys-libs/glibc-2.9_p20081201-r2

I read some 'upstream' info about this at:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=493541

Seems this problem occurs only in combination with:
-Firefox (problem doesn't occur with Opera here, others tell Konqueror also works fine)
-Nvidia proprietary drivers + hardware acceleration (disabling hardware acceleration also solves the problem)
-Youtube (problem doesn't occur with Vimeo full-screen)
-Using the 'LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libGL.so" hack provided in another upstream bugreport doesn't solve the problem

Summary of upstream bugreport / fix as far as I understand (actually, I almost understand none of it all, but anyway:)
There seems to be a problem in Mozilla's jemalloc, and a patch is in FF-versions from 3.5.3-pre, at least the versions from 24 Aug (nightly build) and probably later on.
