Ebuild for conkyForecast 2.04
Comment 2 Christopher Robin Elmersson 2009-06-04 16:15:49 UTC
I wanted this as well, so I gave it a try. It's my first own ebuild so be gentle ;)
Suggestions and hints more than welcome.
Anyway, it works on my rig.

Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild
submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely
manner. There are simply too many new packages.

Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The
sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to
commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry
into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this
and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =)

Thanks,
On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team,
Markos.

How do I make an ebuild for conkyForecast from this? I'm confused. I have conkyForecast, the masked package from portage, but I can't seem to get it to display the weather. Do I need to make an ebuild some how? Is an ebuild compiling from source? I'm confused, please help. Thanks!

conkyForecast is now in portage. Add "app-admin/conkyforecast **" to /etc/portage/package.keywords and then do "emerge conkyforecast".

To use conkyforecast, you must use conky. The settings for conkyforecast are specified therein. You could take a look at this post I did some time ago - http://blog.segfault.co.in/?p=73 (everyone, excuse the blogspam).

Thanks for the blog, I am going to check it out. I want to thank-you fore this, because I have been trying to figure out conkyForecast for the last two days. I have downloaded it from the portage tree as you have stated already, done research to get certain data and tested it out, but I've gone astray somewhere and am having trouble. I'm going to check out the blog now, thanks for your help!

Hey man, I have actually done what this page says, and for some reason its not displaying the weather in my conky config. I'll look over it again, and see if I have made some mistakes.
