I've developed (and attached) an eClass that follows the guidelines of  
http://www.ctan.org/installationadvice/ for single-user LaTeX installations - 
such as gentoo ebuild of teTeX.  It takes care of ins/dtx files, as well as 
font files, documentation, style files, and scripts.
