Description johnathan spectre 2002-05-07 15:45:43 UTC
base system build includes dcron. base system build of x86 version does not
include any specific cron. this interferes with trying to use other cron
managers (such as vcron) since any emerge -u world will keep reinstalling dcron
even after unmerged. please remove dcron as default. thanks.

dcron is Gentoo's default cron. If you would like to change that, edit your
profile to reflect it. You will need to edit both /etc/make.profile/packages
and /etc/make.profile/virtuals . Remember that any changes you make to
/usr/portage/profiles/... will get blown away when you do an emerge --clean
sync, so you should make a copy of the default-1.0 profile and put it somewhere
outside the portage tree and link to that from /etc/make.profile.

no, the reporter is right.
dcron should not be in the profile packages - the ppc guys
need to take it out (remove the star from the line), just
like it is in the x86 packages...

the default is handled by having virtual/cron map to
sys-apps/dcron by default...

i didn't take this, because i don't want to mess with
profiles (especially on an arch that i don't know)

please somebody assign this to a ppc core person
thanks
