Description Hanno Böck gentoo-dev 2002-05-04 11:56:01 UTC
I don't have german Language in Sylpheed Claws, although I choose German in GDM.

Sylpheed Claws supports German and according to their FAQ, setting the language in GDM should work.

(I had a german sylpheed claws in debian)

This is due to an obscure bug caused introduced when we fixed sylpheed to work
alongside sylpheed-claws. It is unlikely to get fixed any time soon, as
sylpheed-claws is classified as experimental anyway.

If you need german locale, put a symlink from sylpheed.mo to sylpheed-claws.mo
in /usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES, thus:

cd /usr/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES ; ln -s sylpheed-claws.mo sylpheed.mo

If you are feeling adventerous, you could look into how to have sylpheed-claws
try to open the sylpheed-claws.mo file instead of the sylpheed.mo file, then
reopen the bug.

Hello,

Today is 03.02.2003 and that bug is still not fixed.
The workaround with soft-linking provided here works,
but it doesn't fix that bug. That would be nice if that
information will be provided while installing sylpheed-claws
(as better workaround -- I spend some time to realize that
trick).

Greetings,
Luke

PS. I think that no locale works on s-claws, am I right?
