Actually, hugin is probably a front-end to it. Changing that package description might be enough for fooled users. ;-)

I'm pretty sure we have already got this in Portage, as media-libs/libpano13.

Do not know what was the situation in 2008 but how about moving media-libs/libpano13 to media-gfx/ at least? The name is just misleading I wouldn't expect media-libs/ to provide front-end binaries. Thanks.
