If I do 'gthumb .' in a directory with *.jpg files gthumb does not show any files. I tried 'View as list' and 'Vies as slides'. If I do in the same directory 'gthumb img_0135.jpg' the file will be displayed. Any Idea? it works fine here on all boxes/arches I have. Beware that it might not do what you would expect it to do if you changed preferences. Closing worksforme for now.
I have the same thing, JPEGs show when opened directly using 'gthumb image.jpg' but do not show up in the listings, while other image types do. I have always had the jpeg use flag enabled. Also, rebuilding jpeg lcms gtk+ and gthumb did not help; revdep-rebuild doesn't show any problems. Soory for the spam, but: rm -rf .gnome2/gthumb* rm -rf .gconf/apps/gthumb and logging out and into Gnome, also have no effect. Does anyone have a clue?
Juergen, I found out our problem is caused by the shared-mime-info package, which is causing many problems in version 0.40 it seems. You can downgrade to: # emerge =x11-misc/shared-mime-info-0.30 to solve the problem, see bug #228885. The fixes described in that bug do work for nautilus here, but not for gthumb. Downgrading solved the problem for me though.
