Starting from a fresh install using the "generic" ppc64 profile (i.e. not the "desktop" profile) I ran into this problem:

If app-text/poppler-bindings is built with USE="-gtk", then mail-client/claws-mail-pdf-viewer-0.9.1 fails to compile with the following error:

checking for GTK... yes
checking for POPPLER... no
configure: error: Can't find Poppler >= 0.4.2 Glib wrapper

Recompiling app-text/poppler-bindings with USE="gtk" fixed the problem.
