Description Mario Bachmann 2008-06-12 13:35:47 UTC
- one gentoo-x86-server with realtek/samba/tcp-tuning
- one client with amd64 gentoo linux
- one client with win2k

when the win2k do some file-io on the samba share of the server, even the linux-client have problems with showing my _local_ home-directory in xfce4-thunar-filemanager.

it seems that the linux-amd64-client do not produce the problem when working on the same samba-share.

after removing the tcp-tuning from the /etc/sysctl.conf and a reboot, everything works fine.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. tcp-tuning in /etc/sysctl.conf on the samba-server
2. two clients: win2k and linux-amd64
3. win2k works on the samba-share.
Actual Results:
both clients go slow/laggy/unuseable

Expected Results:
at least the linux-amd64-client should not get problems.

i do not know what to do with this information. perhaps you need it - otherwise delete it. i have in mind that it is perhaps security-relevant.

Wrong non-default configuration has no security relevance, reassigning.

What is this: "one gentoo-x86-server with realtek/samba/tcp-tuning".

You might at least point out which package in its default configuration is going wrong here. If you "tuned" your TCP in sysctl.conf, then at least post your sysctl.conf and tell us how Gentoo Linux is to blame. :)
