Description Matija "hook" Šuklje 2008-05-11 12:50:00 UTC
According to
http://stumpwm.antidesktop.net/cgi-bin/wiki/SetUp
and
http://stumpwm.antidesktop.net/cgi-bin/wiki/StartUp
compiling and installing StumpWM should produce a binary executable and also man and info pages. I cannot find them when I emerge x11-wm/stumpwm-0.9.2.

emerge --info output

I tried it with enabling USE="clisp", but the end effect is the same.
Comment 3 Matija "hook" Šuklje 2008-05-11 20:47:57 UTC
Also it seems the missing man page shows up if USE="doc" is enabled. Unless I'm mistaken this is not the appropriate usage of the 'doc' useflag, since man and info pages are usually not considered extra, but basic, documentation.
Comment 4 Matija "hook" Šuklje 2008-05-11 20:56:43 UTC
Also, if I download the source from git and compile it by hand using "autoconf && ./configure --with-ppcre=/usr/share/common-lisp/systems && make" I get the binary by default.
Comment 5 Matija "hook" Šuklje 2008-05-11 21:13:36 UTC
I added the original submitter of the ebuild to the CC list -- I hope you're not angry. :]
Comment 6 Josh Glover (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-05-12 04:40:25 UTC
I'll grab this one, as this is my fault. I should have time to fix this in the next couple of days.

pclouds@, if you want to smash this before I get to it, feel free, but don't worry about it. :)
Comment 7 Nguyen Thai Ngoc Duy (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-05-12 06:29:47 UTC
Matija, the ebuild was from stumpwm-cvs, which did not make use of configure script. src_compile rewrite may be needed.

@Josh: Direct maintainer always take precedence ;)

I hope I'm not causing too much trouble and that the info I submitted is of any help at all.

stumpwm.desktop

While you're at it could you also include a /usr/share/xsessions/stumpwm.desktop file for GDM/KDM?

I think something like this should work, although I'm not sure if it's written perfectly.

Any idea when this issue will be fixed?
It's been nearly a month since the last comment.
Comment 11 Josh Glover (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-06-18 04:27:58 UTC
I should be able to look at this in the next week or two.
Comment 12 Josh Glover (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-06-22 00:26:50 UTC
OK, looking at this now. Sorry for the delay.
Comment 13 Łukasz Damentko (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-10-30 16:42:37 UTC
Reassigning to herd since jmglov has left Gentoo.
Comment 14 Marijn Schouten (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-04-04 10:02:14 UTC
Please do not remove the common-lisp herd.
Comment 15 Marijn Schouten (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-04-04 10:09:07 UTC
Please try stumpwm from the lisp overlay.
Comment 16 Stefan Behte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev Security 2009-12-17 00:08:55 UTC
stumpwm-cvs is gone.
According to http://yujianzhang.blogspot.com/2008/07/experiencing-stumpwm.html you need to create the stumpwm binary by yourself (which sucks an did not work for me).

Where can I find the lisp overlay? It's not on http://overlays.gentoo.org/

It's not there, but just running layman -a lisp and adding the proper line to make.conf will get you going
Comment 18 Michael Weber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2011-06-21 01:45:46 UTC
it depends on dev-lisp/clx from the lisp overlay

Comment 19 Chema Alonso Josa (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-04-28 11:38:30 UTC
According to stumpwm web page [1] development is now hosted at Github [2].

I've taken maintainership of the package and pushed a live ebuild to the lisp overlay [3] which works fine here with sbcl. I've been unable to make last release (0.9.7) work.

Closing this bug since =x11-wm/stumpwm-0.9.2 is no longer in the tree.

Please, reopen if necessary.
