This is related to bug http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=141618 The last ~1,5 year I've been intensely working with cakephp. After switching to Gentoo I was glad to see that there is an ebuild already available in the web-apps overlay. But as far as I can see the current ebuild isn't placed in the right category (web-app). Cake should be filed in the dev-php category since it is a library and runs on both php4 & 5. It is not a www-app and should be handled like dev-php5/symfony or dev-php5/ZendFramework. I attached an ebuild for dev-php/cake-1.2.0.6311_beta which installs cake in the /usr/share/php/cake dir and introduces new local USE flags (doc examples test-framework cli). It's loosely based upon the debian packages: http://packages.debian.org/lenny/cakephp1.2 http://packages.debian.org/lenny/cakephp1.2-scripts I'm pretty new to Gentoo/packaging in general and hope opening this bug was OK.
