Description Andrew Edgerton 2008-01-28 23:39:53 UTC
I ran kernel vanilla-sources 2.6.24-rc4, and the rt61 drivers work great, they go up,down and connect without issue. With any kernels vanilla 2.6.24-rc 7 and up , including the gentoo-sources 2.6.24-gentoo, they cause the system to stop, the caps lock and scroll lock blink and the mouse is gone , and the system does not respond. I've been unable to get a log for this even as i don't know where the kernel stores its log.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Be running 2.6.24-gentoo
2.Have the rt61 <*> in the kernel
3.Try to have Knetworkmanager bring up the interface it gets connected then
4.System hard locks.

Actual Results:
System Hard Locks.

Expected Results:
Expected system to continue operating and the kernel not to hard lock.

I can confirm that this is not in vanilla-sources-2.6.24-rc4 , and i know it is in vanilla-source-2.6.24-rc7 and rc8. And this bug also exists in gentoo-sources-2.6.24.

Andrew, would you have time to do a bisection between 2.6.24-rc4 and -rc7?

Looking at the upstream bug, it looks like this is fixed in 2.6.25 and can't really be fixed in 2.6.24. Please can you test the latest development kernel, currently 2.6.25-rc5, and see how things work there?

Please reopen when you have tested the latest development kernel
