Description Algardas Pelakauskas 2007-10-22 21:10:25 UTC
When I use app-misc/mc with vim as its external editor and edit a file on a remote host over VFS (ftp://, #sh:), file changes are not uploaded back to remote.

Steps to reproduce:
1. install app-misc/mc (all use flags enabled)
2. edit ~/.mc/ini, set use_internal_edit=0
and use vim as the system editor
3. cd to #sh:user@host with mc
4. edit a file, save it
5. refresh (ctrl-r)
6. look at the file contents - changes aren't there.

Tested with mc-4.6.1 r3 and r4.

Shrug; this has no Gentoo maintainer ATM, you'd better try https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?group=mc or their mailing list.

Just linking bugs for awareness...
  https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?16029
  https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mc/+bug/31757

Looks like bugs keep flowing upstream, but nobody is solving them..

Sorry, the first link was from another bug (by which my system is affected as well).

The correct link is:
https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?15809

Well yeah, upstream development is very much stale, and we are really tired of patching all the bugs. :/

I'm marking this UPSTREAM, reopen if a patch occurs there at least.
