Apache Directory Server and Directory Studio: - nice & powerful (LDAP & KRB5) Directory Server - Directory Studio is also able to make modifications to openldap (which is a pretty comfortable way of administrating openldap using a GUI - based on Java
I created simple binary ebuild to avoid tedious manual installation on several machines. http://repo.or.cz/w/anomen-overlay.git/tree/HEAD:/net-nds/Apache-DS
For Apache Directory Studio I would recommend using the Eclipse ebuild and then following the directions on the ADS site for using the Eclipse plugin. It ends up being the same as the ADS binary provided on their site.
I personally prefer not to use the eclipse plugin method. This requires installing eclipse which on my system wants to install over 70 packages. Also the package name should be 'ApacheDirectoryStudio', not 'ApacheDS'. ApacheDS is ambiguous as there is also an 'ApacheDirectoryServer'. Plus the package name really is 'ApacheDirectoryStudio' (see the download filename even). And the ebuild in comment 1 is still current as well. There hasnt been a new version released yet.
The desktop entry for this should be "Internet" not "System". System is generally reserved for management of the local box.
ebuild updated according to previous comments new version of ADS not yet available http://repo.or.cz/w/anomen-overlay.git/tree/HEAD:/net-nds/ApacheDirectoryStudio
