when i am in an X-window environment (which for me is either KDE 3.1.1 or fluxbox) and attempt to switch over to a non-X command line using ctrl-alt-f1, f2, f3, or f4, often my computer will completely freeze (unable to switch back, enter any commands, nothing) and i will be unable to do anything other than a power down and reboot. This doesn't happen every time it, but maybe 50% of the time. This is also occurring with the same frequency on a friend's computer as well. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. While using X, press ctrl-alt-f1 2. 3. Actual Results: System is completely frozen Expected Results: It should switch to the CL and allow me to do what I need to do, then switch back to X as necessary. Try to use a different kernel / video driver. This is not a kde bug, so I'll assign it to the X people
Sounds just like a setup problem. Don't know any way to fix it except what Paul said in the above comment.
Please reopen this bug if the problem persists.
