Hi, Please find attached a new ebuild for Tom 7's fonts (fonts.tom7.com), and the corresponding license file that goes in /usr/portage/licenses. The license explicitly permits the redistribution of the fonts for Linux: "The fonts (or converted versions of them) may be included on any recognized distribution of the Linux and (Open/Net/Free)BSD operating systems, even if the CD is sold." The category of the ebuild should be media-fonts. Regards, Sebastián

Is this submission going to accumulate dust until it vanishes into oblivion? I hope it doesn't...
It will give Gentoo users 77 neat TTF fonts, and the package won't require much maintenance, since this font set has been stable for years (no fonts added, updated or removed).
i'm not big on fonts licensed under terms that don't allow the freedom of modification. however, most fonts fall under that umbrella. decorative fonts like these are fun and good for titles/menus, but i think we should be focusing on screen and print stuff in portage.
Right. I don't see your point thoroughly, but I will leave it to you since you probably know Gentoo's priorities or policies better than I do. I think many users (specially those doing work related to graphical design) could benefit from these fonts. Do you think an overlay would be a better place for this ebuild? As far as I can tell, the Artwork overlay would be the most appropriate, though not perfectly fitting.
that's a cool idea. you might want to ask them about including it. also, don't consider my comments the "last word" or anything. if anyone would like to add this font, please feel free to do so. i'm just expressing my personal opinion (which can change wildly from time to time ;))
So, is there still user interest in having these fonts added to Portage? It should be simple enough to do so if there *is* interest.
