Is there a reason we do not have python 2.5 available on amd64? even as a ~ masked package? I know it supposedly breaks certain python packages, but it is too easy to slot python and have multiple versions installed.

It already is keyworded ~amd64, will remain masked until ready (Bug 148333).

excuse me.  It was hard masked and that still doesn't make sense.

You haven't really read bug 148333, have you?
