Subversion-1.4.3 will not compile with the neon-0.26.3 that is in the portage tree, on compilation, it says it needs 0.25.5

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge -1av subversion
2.
3.

Actual Results:
configure: checking neon library
checking neon library version... 0.26.3
You have neon version 0.26.3,
but Subversion needs neon 0.25.5.

An appropriate version of neon could not be found, so libsvn_ra_dav
will not be built. If you want to build libsvn_ra_dav, please either
install neon 0.25.5 on this system

or

get neon 0.25.5 from:
    http://www.webdav.org/neon/neon-0.25.5.tar.gz
unpack the archive using tar/gunzip and rename the resulting
directory from ./neon-0.25.5/ to ./neon/

configure: error: no suitable neon found
See `config.log' for more details.

Try -r1?

[ebuild R ] net-misc/neon-0.26.3 USE="nls ssl zlib -expat -socks5" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] dev-util/subversion-1.4.3-r1 USE="bash-completion berkdb nls perl python -apache2 -emacs -java -nowebdav -ruby" 0 kB

Could you be a little bit more exlpicit about the reason why you marked this INVALID ?

I am actually having this bug. Revdeprebuild wanted to re-emerge subversion; during configured, I was said the same thing as in this report:

You have neon version 0.26.3,
but Subversion needs neon 0.25.5.

root@moon_gen_2:~# emerge -va1 neon subversion
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] net-misc/neon-0.26.3 USE="nls ssl zlib -expat -socks5" 0 kB
[ebuild U ] dev-util/subversion-1.4.3-r1 [1.4.3] USE="apache2 bash-completion berkdb nls perl python -emacs -java -nowebdav -ruby" 0 kB

What do you mean by "-r1" ?

To me, this is a bug, because, emerge failed ! Portage/emerge should solve by advance, and prevent such problems: a distribution is used to foresee and fix dep problems. And here, we do have a dep problem ! Otherwise, I would use LFS.

[ebuild R ] net-misc/neon-0.26.3 USE="expat nls -socks5 ssl zlib" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] dev-util/subversion-1.4.3-r1 USE="-apache2 bash-completion berkdb -emacs -java nls -nowebdav perl python ruby" 0 kB

Works just perfectly fine here, no idea what's your rant about. Upgrade your subversion.

Fact is ... after my last post, I answered yes to emerge, and, after re-emerging neon, subversion emerged successfully.

I attach log of successfull. Still, I would propose to change name of bug to:
- re-emerge of neon may be required to emerge subversion-1.4.3-r1
