Description DennyC 2007-04-22 13:58:11 UTC
When I execute a poweroff, my system will not shutdown. The final lines I get are listed below. I then need to manually hold down the power button to kill the power. I have a dell laptop (Latitude D800). This also occurs when I try to reboot my machine.

* Removing dm-crypt mappings                                      [ ok ]
/etc/init.d/halt.sh: line 132: stop_volumes: command not found
* Remounting remaining filesystems readonly ...
INIT: no more processes left in this runlevel

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. as root execute poweroff

I have flagged this as critical since it would be very nice to reboot/shutdown my machine remotely.

Also this is happening to others. I have googled for this and have found these (they are in russian and polish; and it looks like they haven't resolved the problem either).

Finally I have recently installed gentoo, about 2 weeks ago.

smells like you got broken files on there ...

re-emerge latest stable version of baselayout and sysvinit and make sure you run etc-update
