Description Alexander Skwar 2007-03-21 22:25:53 UTC
I'm trying to install madwifi-ng with these params:

(c1) blatt / # KERNEL_DIR=/usr/src/linux-2.6.19-suspend2-r3 LC_ALL=C emerge --resume
Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild     U ] net-wireless/madwifi-ng-0.9.3-r1 [0.9.2.1] USE="(-amrr%) (-injection%) (-onoe%*)" 0 kB

It starts fine:

[...]
 * checking madwifi-0.9.3.tar.bz2 ;-) ...                                                    [ ok ]
 * Determining the location of the kernel source code
 * Found kernel source directory:
 *     /usr/src/linux-2.6.19-suspend2-r3
 * Found sources for kernel version:
 *     2.6.19-suspend2-r3.neu.001
 * Checking for suitable kernel configuration options... [ ok ]
[...]

But then:

[...]
 * Converting madwifi-0.9.3/ath_rate/sample/Makefile to use M= instead of SUBDIRS= ...       [ ok ]
>>> Source unpacked.
>>> Compiling source in /Gentoo/Portage/build/portage/net-wireless/madwifi-ng-0.9.3-r1/work/madwifi-0.9.3 ...
 * Preparing ath_hal module
/bin/sh: line 0: cd: /lib/modules/2.6.19-suspend2-r3.045/build: No such file or directory
../Makefile.inc:66: *** /lib/modules/2.6.19-suspend2-r3.045/build is missing, please set KERNELPATH. Stop.
[...]

It tries to cd to a non existant directory.

I'm compiling (or not... *g*) it in a chroot. The kernel version of the "host" system is:

alexander@blatt ~ $ uname -r
2.6.19-suspend2-r3.045

-r1 had removed BUILD_PARAMS - can you try with -r2 please?

With -r2, all is fine. I didn't even need to set KERNEL_DIR, as it picked up the symlink /usr/src/linux.

Thanks. Closing bug.
