Description Lance Poore 2007-03-08 04:02:05 UTC
I've been trying and trying to get my sd card to mount with gnome-volume-manager and gnome-mount. My cdrom and usb devices work fine with hal, however the sd card will not mount. I decided to try ivman instead, I get the same results with it as well. ivman gives output like "device was not mounted by us or others" This is one of those things you have to try yourself to understand what is going on.

My versions are:

gnome-mount-0.4-r5
gnome-volume-manager-2.15.0-r1
hal-0.5.7.1-r5
dbus-1.0.2-r1
ivman-0.6.14

When I try to do gnome-mount on the device I get:
$ gnome-mount -b -d /dev/mmcblk0p1
gnome-mount 0.4

** (gnome-mount:8535): WARNING **: Given device '/dev/mmcblk0p1' is not a volume or a drive.

The thing about it is, pmount will mount the device fine.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Insert SD card
2.SD Card Never Mounts
3.Try again.. same results

Actual Results:
the SD card did not mount!

Expected Results:
Expected the sdcard to be mounted by label in /media

should have created a mount point and mounted the device as user in /media/

Works fine on my laptop ... please provide emerge --info, the brand/model (lsusb, lspci, etc) of your card reader and the kernel you're using (if emerge --info doesn't list it)

I'm getting the same behavior. Funny thing is, it worked with older versions of gnome-volume-manager (unfortunately, I no longer know which).

gnome-base/gnome-volume-manager-2.15.0-r1

could you guys try with a recent hal/hal-info/udev/gnome-volume-manager ?
It worked out of the box last time I tried (it's not a ricoh controler though).

I have a Ricoh controller, and it has worked out-of-the-box for me with gnome-volume-manager. At least 2.18 and 2.20; I don't know that 2.16 was ever on this laptop.
