When trying to emerge the xforms library I receive the following error: rm -f libformsGL.so.1.0~ + cd . + gcc -o ./libformsGL.so.1.0~ -shared -Wl,-soname,libformsGL.so.1 glcanvas.o -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lXext -lX11 -L/usr/local/lib -L../lib -lforms -lGL -lc /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.2.2/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: cannot find -lGL collect2: ld returned 1 exit status + rm -f libformsGL.so.1 + ln -s libformsGL.so.1.0 libformsGL.so.1 + true rm -f libformsGL.so.1.0 mv -f libformsGL.so.1.0~ libformsGL.so.1.0 mv: cannot stat `libformsGL.so.1.0~': No such file or directory make[1]: *** [libformsGL.so.1.0] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/xforms-1.0/work/xforms-1.0-release/gl' make: *** [all] Error 2 !!! ERROR: x11-libs/xforms-1.0 failed. !!! Function src_compile, Line 39, Exitcode 2 !!! (no error message) I have tried changing my compiler flags, but it does not make a differance. It seems to me that the file it is trying to move is removed before the operation occurs. I almost forgot, the system is 1.4_rc3. This was not listed in the drop down list for version. Also, I am new to Gentoo. So, if I have placed this in the wrong area, please forgive me.

what version of xfree86 to you have installed. i searched around for libGL and it appears to be part of xfree86 4.3
Sorry for the delay in getting back to this. Anyway, I performed an emerge world -e. Once I did this, the problems with emerging xforms went away.
