After emergin the kde cvs ebuild by Dan Armak, kde hangs on login. The Splashscreen suddenly disappears and I am left with a blue screen. I solved the problem adding the line KDEDIRS=/usr/kde/cvs to the file /etc/env.d/30kdelibs-5 . I believe this is a problem with the kde-cvs ebuild!? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Emerge kde cvs using the kde cvs ebuild by Dan Armak 2. Login.... kde hangs 3. Actual Results: The KDE Splashscreen disappears suddenly and I am left with a blue screen. Expected Results: the login should have given me access to kde csv :-) I have Qt 3.1.0-r3, kde 3.1, kde cvs xfree-4.2.99.902
Do you have a stable 3.0.x or 3.1.x kdelibs installed? If so you probably need to update it to the latest revision available.
I have stable kdelibs 3.1_r1, But is it not the kde cvs ebuild who should put the line "KDEDIRS=/usr/kde/cvs" into /etc/env.d/30kdelibs-5 . That didn't happen when I emerged kde using the kde cvs ebuild. Or am I totally missing something here? To recap: All I'm saying is that the kde cvs ebuild should add the line "KDEDIRS=/usr/kde/cvs" into the file "/etc/env.d/30kdelibs-5".
KDEDIRS should only contain /usr/. please look at bug #15593 for more details.
Seems to work okay on this end - must be a fluke for the bug report. No activity in a while, so I'm closing.
