Description Benno Schulenberg 2007-01-09 21:51:39 UTC
While doing an 'emerge -e system' today, popt-1.7-r1 failed. See below.
Emerging popt-1.10.7 worked fine. Please stabilize that version.

I had the same error on my system. I’d post the output of emerge --info here but bugzilla complains about the comment being too long.

Funny thing: I created an overlay of the 1.7-r1 ebuild, and installing from the overlay worked fine (because then the automake version of 1.6 requested in the ebuild was used instead of the latest 1.10).

Diego, Martin, please take a look at this. The ebuild sets
WANT_AUTOCONF="latest"
WANT_AUTOMAKE="1.6"

but automake-1.10 is used. Eclass bug?

This seems that there's something broken somewhere as if portage is using another ebuild for it's work instead of the one in the tree. Maybe the one in /var/db/pkg ?

Comment 6 Sandro Bonazzola (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-10 19:09:12 UTC
It seems that the problem can be only that another popt ebuild from somewhere is used. Maybe a popt ebuild is used from an overlay like PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage"
Please be sure there aren't popt ebuilds around and emerge --sync your portage tree. If it still persists reopen the bug.
Comment 7 Benno Schulenberg 2007-01-10 22:11:19 UTC
After a sync popt-1.7-r1 now emerges fine. I must have hit some intermediate eclass state in the tree; there never was a popt ebuild in an overlay here.
Comment 8 Sandro Bonazzola (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-11 18:22:19 UTC
Thanks. I hope it's the last bug seen for 1.7 series :-) Enjoy new 1.10 series :-)
