From Stefan's email to me: > Hello, Robin, > according to http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/staffing-needs/ you > look for help with backup-apps in combo with Gentoo. > > I am member of the Amanda core-team (http://www.amanda.org) and would > like to ask if you need anything related to Amanda. > > For quite a while I am a happy Gentoo-user and would like to contribute. As we do badly need folks in the backup herd, I'd like to bring Stefen onboard. I (robbat2) will be his mentor. Stefan: Please add your bugzilla account to the CC list, and tell me what handle you would like. sgw?
Greets to you, recruiters, hello, Robin. Yes, sgw is my preferred handle. I am curious if I might be able to help out with Amanda-related stuff here. Thx, Stefan.
I will be reviewing your quizes. Just sent them to recruiters@gentoo.org when you get the ok from your mentor. After that ping me on IRC and we will review them. Please note that you should be responsive during the recruiting process and just ping me if you think that nothing is happening.
Two days to the deadline. This bug will be closed unless you have good reasons on why I should give you more time.
betelgeuse: I have seen a partial draft of his quiz, but I've been really busy with work this week (see slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/01/17/1354247 ), so I haven't had a chance to get back to sgw myself.

he's got reams of email with me from before I got busy. Just nothing on the bug, as I wasn't aware you needed any other information put in here, you said just to email you the quizzes when they are ready.

betelgeuse: Just a followup on this for you - I've seen sgw's final quiz draft today, and he should email it to both of us after he follows my last hints and clues. I've also got an initial round of co-development done with him, that i'll be committing to app-backup/amanda shortly.
Petteri, I emailed my last version of the ebuild-quiz to Robin on Feb, 20th to get the latest hints as he mentioned. Now that this bug is due today I want to check back if I should send my draft to you directly now.

sorry, didn't see that last email, one sec while I review.
ok, sgw should be emailing his quiz to you now.
didn't see any action on here, so just confirming that recruiters did in fact recieve his quiz and ssh pubkey.
(In reply to comment #13) > didn't see any action on here, so just confirming that recruiters did in fact > recieve his quiz and ssh pubkey. > Yeah quizes received. Was in FOSDEM so did not read my mail last weekend as my laptop has a dead harddrive.

Is there anything I can do? Something missing? Just curious when things will go on ;) I would really like to see the 2.5.1p3-ebuild online soon, for example. Greets, Stefan.

Ebuild quiz reviewed. Next up eom quiz. Just send it to recruiters@gentoo.org when you get the ok from robbat.
I wanted to put some pressure on this but I won't be able to finish eom-quiz until 2007-03-22, sorry. Please give me some more time for this ...

Are you able to contribute to Gentoo in a steady manner so that for example security bugs don't get neglected?

Are you able to > contribute to Gentoo in a steady manner so that for example security bugs don't > get neglected? > I am still interested, yes, but on one hand I am very busy with running my business in these days and on the other hand I am feeling pretty much scared off by the amount I have to learn to do the eom-quiz. As I have little programming-background I am a bit overwhelmed by all the rules and mechanisms and "if-this-happens-do-that" of the gentoo-project. Although I am very interested in learning all that, I am somehow rattled if I am competent enough. Ad security-stuff: Yes, I think I am able to react in a reasonable time. As only last week, when amanda-2.5.2b1 was released upstream, I had a working ebuild within the first few hours, hit a bug, patched it and reported it upstream, where it went into the next snapshot. I won't be able to do that for all kind of bugs, yes, but I think I'll be able to act as kind of a link between the amanda-project and gentoo. Greets, Stefan.

betelgeuse: Yes, I'm already discussing this with sgw via email.
Ok, sgw is going to be just a proxy dev for now, and potentially reopen this later, when he's got a lot more time on his hands.
Acknowledged.
