Description Marc-Andre Landry 2006-11-23 05:06:56 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061122 BonEcho/2.0
Build Identifier:

I would like to know if there is a possibility to only install Darwin and use
the Gentoo/Mac OSX portage tree to maintain the installation. May someone link
me to a informational page or forward me a email which may help me fulfill the
gap within the installation from ISO to linking the Portage system. I don't plan
to install Mac OSX onto the machine as it don't meet requirement of the Intel
released.
Your welcome,
Marc-Andr

May I ask why is this a blocker bug, and why are you asking question in bugzilla?

this is actually not a bug.
Comment 5 Marc-Andre Landry 2006-12-13 04:48:00 UTC
This enhancement won't see the day else I do it... missing knowledge to do so it will wait.

Gentoo-Alt isn't what I had in mind. More something like Gentoo FreeBDS LiveCD but maybe this is all due to underlaying licenses.
Comment 6 Fabian Groffen gentoo-dev 2006-12-13 06:34:05 UTC
maybe you are looking for GNU/Darwin:

From a certain standpoint, it is a joke to release the kernel source code without
releasing the AppleACPIPlatform driver.

END of QUOTE

Licensing and openness problem within Apple render my project idea infeasible. At least from a FREE and NON-FREE stand of view. I may dig this further if I see a viable solution.
