i cant seem to install gentoo on my machine. at first , i'm using the GTK+. in the middle of the installtion process, i get stuck in in the unpack stage tarball (copying dev_lang/python-2.4.3-r1). the machine hangs...then i tried using the command line and the mount error mesg appeared...

Unless you post some real description, steps to reproduce, attach installer logs or whatever, we can just guess. If you machine hangs, then you should check the hardware.
