The Telepathy project aims to provide a unified framework for all forms of real time conversations, including instant messaging, IRC, voice calls and video calls. It uses the DBus messaging system to provide a simple interface for client applications, allowing them to quickly benefit from Telepathy's functionality.
Created attachment 98537 [details] libtelepathy-0.0.37.ebuild A GLib library to ease writing Telepathy clients in glib
Created attachment 98538 [details] telepathy-gabble-0.3.7.ebuild A Jabber/XMPP connection manager, this handles single and multi user chats and voice calls.
I already added those to the voip overlay. Updating them in the overlay and in portage is good but I want some successful results before moving everyinthing to portage.
Marking UPSTREAM for now. http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/voip/timeline
It's time to reopen this bug! There are some telepathy ebuilds in the voip overlay that are ready for portage/bugzilla/sunrise, so here is the current status of telepathy packages. Build and work correctly: dev-python/pymsn dev-util/telepathy-inspector net-im/empathy net-voip/telepathy-butterfly net-voip/telepathy-mission-control Build and I think they work but couldn't test properly: net-voip/telepathy-feed net-voip/telepathy-idle net-voip/telepathy-salut net-voip/telepathy-sofiasip Don't build, don't work properly or need more testing: dev-gotnet/tapioca-sharp (bug #151005) - Live SVN ebuild, waiting release or working snapshot. dev-dotnet/telepathy-sharp - Same case as tapioca-sharp. net-voip/landell (bug #151005) - Builds against xulrunner. Firefox needs a workaround. Seamonkey not tested. Live SVN ebuild. Anyway, its deps are not ready either. I have no interest, can't handle, or haven't work on it yet: net-voip/telepathy-wilde - Java package, I can't handle it. Immature. There's a SoC project about it, so maybe after summer it will be time to review it. telepathy-qt and tapioca-qt (Qt4 bindings, will be used by KDE Decibel) banter (Gnome, C# client) - Focused in Evolution's Address Book, which I definately don't want to play with. GnomeUI/Chatter - Development not active. Not telepathy related, but needed for some ebuilds: app-text/xmldiff (bug #181256) - Needed for net-voip/telepathy-salut's test suite dev-dotnet/ndesk-dbus (bug #159793) - Needed for net-voip/landell And finally, ebuilds in portage which need a version bump: dev-python/telepathy-python (from 0.13.9 to 0.13.12)
I am also interested in get empathy ebuild in portage tree ;-) Can I reopen this bug? Thanks a lot :-)
(In reply to comment #6) > I am also interested in get empathy ebuild in portage tree ;-) > > Can I reopen this bug? I'll get empathy into portage soon. Bug reopened for clarity.
Sofia-sip works quite well (I use it daily for work). I think Wilde is not actively developed anymore. Banter is, at least 3 people at Novell work on it full time. And using eds for the contact list is probably the way to go for telepathy, that's what is done on the Maemo platform. pymsn and butterfly need new releases, I'll try to beat them out of the authors this week (they're at guadec).
empathy and mission-control, pymsn, telepathy-butterfly, telepathy-gabble and telepathy-inspector are in the tree. More telepathy related ebuilds will be eventually added. You can file bugs for individual telepathy packages.
Is it possible to add net-voip/telepathy-sofiasip to the tree?
