The xterm titles produced by portage during the package builds are incorrect. The title says that the package is "Compiling" even when it is executing tests, installing or being merged. I use these titles to quickly check what portage is currently doing.
Created attachment 97886 [details, diff] A quick fix Apply this patch, then emerge few packages and watch the xterm title as portage is performing the builds to see what I am talking about. This patch is against portage-2.1.1 but can be applied to portage-2.1.2_pre1-r1 as well. It may need some cleanup/adjustment before it is incorporated into portage.
If I'm reading that correctly it would change the format of emerge.log as well (adding new lines), that's gonna take a lot of testing with tools like genlop, qlop, splat or regenworld as they make assumptions about it.
