Disable NX bit in system BIOS, start X with 'nvidia' driver and run an OpenGL app. glxinfo suffices, it doesn't finish and the system locks up a few seconds later with a kernel oops visible over ssh. After turning the NX bit support back on, system behaves correctly. I found a patch regarding this issue here: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=688569 (for 7676) and here: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=776711 (for 8178)
Could be cause the system is compiled for a system with NX enabled and if you disable it running into trouble isnt a bug.
The system has been built and was running with the NX disabled in BIOS. I turned it on specifically for the nvidia drivers.
I just updated 8174, can you test it?
Err... 8178, I meant. Also, is there a patch for 8774 already?
No response in a few months and quite a few newer versions available.
