I cannot emerge portage-utils. Here is the output when I try:

The only thing that depends on it is java-config-wrapper . And yes, your system is extremely outdated, reopen once you are able to reproduce w/ up-to-date system.

erm, not so sure ... looks to me like something is screwed on your system due to packages clobbering each other ...

please run:

get back to us, your system looks broken
