Jakub, Thanks for verifying. I found it: all http mirrors reply with 404 (still not clear why) and i had a problem with emerge/ftp/wget/authenticating squid..). Thanks.
Well, if upstream mirrors dislike squid so much that they reply w/ 404 then you probably report it upstream.
