Description Alessandro Zarrilli 2006-05-25 00:50:56 UTC
I just upgraded from Amarok 1.3.x to 1.4.0a, but Amarok doesn't play realplayer streams any more! It looks like I'm not the only one having this problem, see http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-465118.html (he says it doesn't play WMA streams too).

Here is my use flags summary (as you see I correctly used the "real" use flag):

amaroK _never_ plays stream by itself, what it does is relying on engines to do the work.

Which engine are you using? by default xine will be used, also if you have real useflag enabled (which does not enable realaudio streams but the helix engine); the helix engine using realplayer should work. xine-lib requires the real useflag enabled.

Basically, provide more informantion, please.

I was using xine engine. I tried switching to helix one: it nicely plays MP3s but still no luck with my stream. Anyway xine-lib has no "real" useflag, the only ebuilds having "real" useflag are these:

http://gentoo-portage.com/Search?search=&use=real

I can also tell you that the stream (http://www.radioradicale.it/ram/live_audio.ram) plays nicely using both Kaffeine and Kmplayer (using xine as player engine, of course).

Here is some other info you could be interested in:
