Description Ciaran McCreesh 2006-04-06 05:04:46 UTC
No-one really owns thirdpartymirrors, so QA gets the bug...

The thirdpartymirrors file isn't really kept up to date. The gentoo list, for example, includes ftp.rez-gif.supelec.fr, which hasn't been a mirror for a while now, and half the gnu entries are duff. What we should probably do:

* script check it now and again
* find some way of getting what the gentoo entry should contain from infra on a semi regular basis

This would be a portage thing, no?

If portage@: Let me know if you need anything from my end on mirrors.

Thanks,
Jeff

Somehow we need to keep the list in cvs synchronized with reality and there's nothing that portage itself can do about this.

Is there a way to get a list of mirrors (even in HTML from the web or something); we can then parse the list and run sanity checks on thirdpartymirrors.

Get-mirror-list.rb script sent to Alec.

ball is in his court now.

Alec: close this bug as you see fit.

Another one that a script will not catch.

thirpartymirrors contains the following gnu entry:
ftp://tron.um.u-tokyo.ac.jp/pub/GNU

However connecting to the server in question says that the name is not to be used (it does work, but still)

220 ftp.sakamura-lab.org FTP server (Version wu-2.6.2-11.73.1) ready.
