Conky does not render correctly under modular Xorg 7. I have tried re-emerging it and it doesn't help. possibly related to problems I'm having with aterm. aterm: can't load color "White", colorID = 0, (29) aterm: can't load color "Black", colorID = 0, (29) aterm: aborting hmm...
change: draw_shades yes to draw_shades no and enjoy as for the colour parsing, make sure you have /usr/share/X11/rgb.txt laying around. It is included in the package "x11-apps/rgb". This is not a bug and therefore should be marked invalid and closed.
Er, wait, nevermind the draw_shades thing. Install the x11-apps/rgb and it will fix the colours.
(In reply to comment #5) > Er, wait, nevermind the draw_shades thing. Install the x11-apps/rgb and it > will fix the colours. > it is installed I did however solve the problem. the names have changed in the new version of rgb.txt White is now white lightgrey is now LightGrey hotpink is now HotPink etc. changing these in conkyrc works. It also solved my problem with aterm changing it in xdefaults. Changing these to hex codes also works. I'll leave it up to you to decide how you want to handle it. it's a trivial problem.
closing bug if a mod could please mark this as a dupe of bug 129746
